The Bascule Highback & Ottoman by Vitra combines a high-back lounge chair with a matching ottoman. Studio Πbased its design on tailoring techniques: the loosely cut fabric cover wraps around the frame like a coat, leaving it plenty of room to move. The soft folds give the set a relaxed, cozy character.

Hidden beneath the upholstery is a mechanism that automatically adjusts to the user’s weight and responds sensitively to shifts in body weight. The chair thus smoothly follows the body’s movements from an upright sitting position to an almost horizontal resting position. The height-adjustable neck pillow provides support for the head, while the footrest allows you to stretch your legs out comfortably.

The removable cover can be taken off for cleaning or replacement, and the individual components are designed with repairability in mind. As a result, Bascule offers not only comfort in everyday use but also a well-thought-out solution for a long service life.
