The Cone Chair by Vitra is based on the simple geometric shape of a cone, which Verner Panton transformed into a distinctive and comfortable seat. Originally designed in 1958 for a restaurant in Denmark, it continues to captivate with its unusual proportions and clean silhouette. The upholstered shell, which widens toward the top, forms both the backrest and armrests and naturally envelops the sitter.

The chair’s base consists of a glass-fiber-reinforced plastic shell, complemented by polyurethane foam padding and a soft, removable seat cushion. The chair rests on a slender, swiveling stainless steel base that accentuates its conical shape. The Cone Chair works well as a standalone piece in a home setting and as comfortable seating in reception areas and common spaces when paired with the appropriate upholstery.
