Eames Fiberglass Armchair LAR by Charles and Ray Eames is a compact lounge chair with a low seat and an expressive wire base. Its organically shaped shell brings the seat, backrest and armrests together in a single form.
The dyed-through shell is made of polyester resin reinforced with glass fibres and has a lively surface texture. Visible fibres, subtle pigment specks and variations in texture give each chair an individual character. Some colour versions are also slightly translucent.
The steel wire base with cross struts earned the nickname Cat’s Cradle after the children’s string game. This unupholstered version reveals the fibreglass texture in full and offers a chrome-plated or smooth powder-coated base. LAR works equally well as an individual piece or alongside a sofa.
