Eames Fiberglass Armchair RAR by Charles and Ray Eames is a compact rocking chair with an organically shaped shell and wooden runners. Despite its modest dimensions, it provides a comfortable place to relax even for taller users.
The dyed-through shell is made of polyester resin reinforced with glass fibres and combines the seat, backrest and armrests in one form. Visible fibres create a lively surface with subtle irregularities and pigment specks. Some colour versions are slightly translucent.
A steel wire base with cross struts rests on solid maple runners. The metal structure is available with a chrome-plated or smooth powder-coated finish, paired with golden or dark lacquered runners. This unupholstered version highlights the distinctive fibreglass texture and the chair’s iconic silhouette.
