The Eames Fiberglass Side Chair DSR by Vitra is one of Charles and Ray Eames’s most famous designs. The organically shaped, one-piece shell was created in 1950 as a pioneering use of fiberglass in furniture manufacturing and still captivates today with its distinctive texture featuring visible glass fibers. Each piece thus has a slightly irregular, almost natural surface.

The abbreviation DSR stands for Dining Height Side Chair Rod Base and refers to the distinctive steel wire base, also known as the “Eiffel Tower” base. Its subtle design combines visual lightness with the necessary strength, creating a striking contrast to the fully molded shell. The chair can also be paired with an optional seat cushion for added comfort.
