Eames Plastic Armchair RE LAR by Charles and Ray Eames is a low lounge chair with an organically shaped shell and integrated armrests. Its compact dimensions make it an expressive individual piece or a companion to a sofa in a smaller living room.
The steel wire base with cross struts provides a stable structure with a delicate visual character. Its unusual shape earned it the nickname Cat’s Cradle after the children’s string game. The dyed-through shell is made of recycled polypropylene and is fully recyclable at the end of its useful life.
Tiny pigment specks on the surface are a natural characteristic of the recycled material. This unupholstered version offers a choice of shell colours and a chrome-plated or smooth powder-coated base. Versions with a powder-coated base can also be used outdoors seasonally in accordance with Vitra’s care instructions and should then be stored in a dry, sheltered place.
