The Kiila Coat Stand is a freestanding coat rack designed by Daniel Rybakken for Artek in 2017. Its simple three-legged structure was inspired by a camera tripod on which the designer himself used to hang his coats. The result is a subtle yet stable object with a low center of gravity that can easily handle even heavier loads.

A distinctive feature of the Kiila collection is the visible wedge-shaped joint, from which it also derives its name—“kiila” means “wedge” in Finnish. The solid ash legs are complemented by a structure made of bent sheet steel and polyamide hooks, which are a natural part of the connecting system. The structural principle is not hidden; on the contrary, it becomes an important part of the overall design.

The Kiila Coat Stand offers a practical place to store coats, jackets, bags, and other accessories, and thanks to its compact footprint, it’s also suitable for smaller entryways and foyers. The combination of sturdiness, simplicity, and a transparent design reflects Artek’s traditional design principles.
