designed by Edward Barber & Jay Osgerby

The Mikado Armchair High by Vitra is an upholstered bar stool that brings the soft shapes and comfort of the Mikado collection to taller tables and counters. Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby designed it with a curved backrest whose sides flow seamlessly into the armrests. The height-adjustable seat makes it suitable for use at a kitchen island or a high bar counter, while the swivel base makes it easy to sit down and access the table.

Comfort is ensured by upholstery on all sides and a slightly adjustable backrest that can tilt backward thanks to a mechanism hidden beneath the seat. A footrest enhances comfort when sitting in a more upright position. The backrest shell is made of recycled polypropylene, and both the seat and backrest padding are made of recyclable V-Foam.

The fabric or leather upholstery is not glued to the frame and can be removed by qualified personnel for cleaning or replacement as needed. The individual components can be separated by material, which facilitates the restoration of the chair and its subsequent recycling.
