designed by Edward Barber & Jay Osgerby, 2026

Mikado Side Chair Low by Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby is a low upholstered chair for relaxed seating in living rooms, hotel lobbies and informal workspaces. Its curved backrest and upholstery on all sides create a soft, compact presence.

A mechanism concealed beneath the seat allows the backrest to recline slightly and respond naturally to body movement. The four-star swivel base in die-cast aluminium comes with a polished finish or a basic dark powder coating. Glides can be selected to suit hard floors or carpet.

The backrest shell uses recycled polypropylene, while the seat and backrest are padded with recyclable V-Foam polyurethane foam. The fabric or leather cover is not glued and can be replaced by trained professionals. Components can be separated by material to facilitate recycling.
