The Softshell Chair with a four-star base by Vitra is an upholstered chair with armrests that combines soft, rounded shapes with the lightness of a four-star base. The Bouroullec brothers based its comfort on an unobtrusive design detail: flexible vertical ribs hidden within the backrest. These adapt to the user’s movements and provide comfortable support even during extended periods of sitting.

The seat, backrest, and integrated armrests form a seamless unit with soft upholstery. The glass-fiber-reinforced polyamide shell provides the chair with strength, while the flexible upper part of the backrest allows for freedom of movement. The aluminum base allows for swiveling and is available with a polished finish or a dark powder-coated finish. Fabric or leather upholstery completes the chair’s calm, cozy character.
