The history of the Fritz Hansen brand begins in 1872, when the enterprising carpenter Fritz Hansen obtained a business license in Copenhagen. The decisive moment came in 1885, when Hansen founded his own furniture company. The long list of prestigious contracts in the first fifty years of the company’s existence is proof that the Fritz Hansen brand gained a solid reputation as early as the beginning of the 20th century. A close partnership with leading designers in the 1940s and 1950s greatly strengthens the company’s profile.
The climax was a fruitful collaboration between Arne Jacobsen and the Fritz Hansen brand. Famous designer Arne Jacobsen brought Danish design to prominence. His famous EGG™ and SWAN™ armchairs are a testament to his comprehensive conception of the concept of design, according to which every detail matters and architecture and design form an inseparable whole.
